I'm asking for one of my roommates whose Verizon contract has expired. We've all had bad luck with Verizon where we live so he's looking around at different carriers. Our next door neighbor has a Siemens S46 (TDMA/GSM on ATT) phone that seems to always have a strong signal and has never dropped a call. T-Mobile has some very competitive rate plans and has been recommended to me more than once from people in the area. Does anyone have any experience with either provider in central Ohio? |

I live in Columbus, on Feb 1 I switched to T-Mobile from Sprint and have been very happy so far. I haven't had a dropped call yet. I looked into ATT and found that T-Mobile was a better value with a free phone I actually wanted (I got the Nokia 3390) and 600 anytime mins + free nights and weekends is twice the minutes I was getting with Sprint for the same price. I couln't find an ATT plan that could come close to matching it. Also, if you go to amazon.com and purchase your phone through them (nokia 3390= 1 penny) you get a $100 rebate from T-mobile, I wish I had found this deal before I bought my phone from the T-Mobile website. HTH!

Just FYI. Free unlimited nights is not currently available on TM - it ended on 2/8. It now costs $2.99.

Wow! I am glad I started my service on 02/01 instead of waiting until the 15th like I had planned. As a poor college student every little bit helps. : )

Thanks, I'll pass the info along. T-Mobile seems have an excellent reputation around here. Are you an OSU student? If so, how do you find the coverage around campus to be?

well I'm an OSU student (Go Bucks! ) i've been using T-Mob for about 2 months. I think coverage is OK around campus, especially around College of Business area and near High Street. I can get full signal there. Anyway, since T-Mob use 1900 MHz GSM, don't expect reception inside building to be perfect. Good luck! |

Just a note... you can try AT&T for 30 days, T-Mob will only give you 14 days.

T-Mo does have a trial period though? I think I might check it out. My Verizon signal can't penetrate buildings anyway. I get 1-2 bars of signal MAX, or more typically analog while I'm in Shoenbaum, and maybe 3 bars in MacQuigg. Where i work in Lord Hall I get 1 bar max, or analog. Baaah.

I agree with the above posts (esp the Go Bucks!!!!), I have good to great reception on campus, and haven't had a difficulty with signal strength in buildings except Univerisity hall 014, but I don't know anyone who gets a signal in that room : )

Yeah I agree with "Go Bucks" too Strange you are having all of those reception problems... The only time I lose a signal is in the underground hallway in the business school. (by SB105) I called Verizon and complained about your dead spot, but I think it takes more EQ than I have. A friend of mine who had Voicestream and was switched to T-Mobile had the worst sounding service... He just got a Verizon plan because of the coverage and I have noticed a huge improvement in voice quality. I suppose it could have been his phone (N-100 or something like that) |

I filed a compaint with Verizon as well. Actually, I had two of my roommates on with me as well, so all of our accounts are listed under the complaint. Hopefully with all of this complaining something will get done, as I don't really feel like coughing up $175 to get out of this contract.

On Wisconsin! VTEC, have you tried getting a car cell antenna and hooking it up outside a window in your place? I don't now if this would be practical or not, but it may save you the ETF.

Actually, I was thinking about that last night. I found some mag-mount car antennas for both the Timeport and V60 on eBay. maybe I can just screw a metal plate into my roof and run the wire though the window The antennas dont look that expensive, I might order one up today and see what happens.
