Hi, First time poster here! I am a current AT&T TDMA user and just yesterday got a VX4400 from Verizon, as I am looking for a new phone/plan. I debated between Verizons $40 local 1000 anytime vs. their $40 local 500 anytime/1000 mobile to mobile/unlimited night weekends. I ended up choosing the latter, as I like to the idea of the unlimited weekend minutes. Anyway, now I see today US Cellular has 900 anytime with unlimited weekends for $30 first year an $40 the second, which on paper obviously looks like a much better deal. More minutes and saves $120 the first year. If I got that plan I would likely get the LG VX10 as my phone, as I almost choose that at Verizon instead of the VX4400. My main question is, how good is the USCellular service in the N/W Chicago burbs? I have had aweful phone service before and do not want to go through that again. Is the Verizon plan worth the extra $120 the first year (not counting the additional 400 anytime min I would get with USCellular)? Any feedback between the three companies would be appreciated, but I am mostly looking for how good USC is. Their current plan is easily the tops, but I don't want to go with them if it will give me headaches. Thanks! |

dakkon74, IMO - US Cellular has excellent coverage in the NW Suburbs. I had Primeco before USCC bought them out - and did traveling quite extensively around Arlington Heights, Palantine, Barrington, etc. all the way to Evanston. I was very happy with the coverage, I can only remember a few dropped calls. After the USCC buyout - I've still experienced great service when traveling back into that area. The only area where I have just recently had some troubles is out around DeKalb. I think its because that's where their old 800MHz system meets the newer 1900MHz system they acquired from Primeco - there's a bit of a dead zone. There customer service is good to excellent, the only downside I see right now is their phone selection - but it has gotten much better in the last few months! BTW - I have the VX-10 with USCC and am very happy with it - if you do end up going with USCC, I recommend the VX-10 highly. If you want to know anything else - just post here - I'll try to help.
