Default Best sounding Verizon phone

Hi,

I've been using my old, tough-as-nails Qualcomm 860 with Verizon in the Cincinnati area for almost 3 years. It may not have had all the cool bells and whistles, but I only had 3 dropped calls during that entire time. Also, people always commented that it sounded excellent for a cell phone.

But recently I was lured by the cheap rebates and pretty color screens. I switched to the Audiovox CDM9500. Nice screen, easy-to-use interface -- but now people are saying that my voice sounds hollow. Also, I notice a lot more breakup in their transmission.

For me, the most important thing a cell phone must be is a reliable, clear-sounding phone. Everything else is nice, but secondary. I'm still in the 15-day trial period. **My question is this: Will I find a clearer-sounding Verizon phone than the CDM9500?** I'm half-tempted to switch back to my 860 until cellphone makers get over the gimmick rush and concentrate on making a durable, crystal-clear cellphone

Thanks,
DZ

You may be waiting a long time before the manufactuers stop worrying more about the "gimmicks".

Word has it that Verizon is coming out with the LG VX4400 next week. If you want the color screen, you could wait for it.

For the dull black and white phones, the MOTO V60i and 120 are pretty good. My only complaint is the headset volume is too low.

Good Luck!!

The V60i has good reception and crystal clear calls. I have even droped it a few times and it still works great.
