Once again VZW has changed the way they charge off peak and on... but fortunately got credit on the overage.... It seems like if you start a call at 550am and go to 700am you are charged 9 minutes off peak and 61 on peak...... i checked my minutes and knew that was the case and called the VZW rep and they credited me... I thought it went by when you start the call.... Seems like before if I start a call at 850pm and went on after 9pm the WHOLE call would be billed as peak time.. I am in the Indianapolis Market... Does anyone know if the whole call at 850 would be billed peak or would just the minutes from 850pm-9pm be billed as peak.... VZW said they were updating their systems... To what is what I wonder...>??? Ran out of peak minutes with two days to go well at least I used them all....

I spent 15 minutes with a CS rep 2 days ago discussing strategy. She assured me that the time the call started was the governing issue. If you place a call at 5:58 AM and talk for two hours, the whole call is considered off peak. If you call at 8:55 PM and talk an hour the whole 60 min is charged to peak minutes.

I think that this is a region by region policy variation. I believe that in Michigan you would get split rate billing. Rates would change in mid-call at 6a.m. and 9p.m. Can someone from Michigan back me up on this? Thats the problem with Verizon and probably other carriers, as well. Every damn region has its own policy on everything. There is very little consistency on anything; billing, split rates; off-peak holidays. Every market is a little different.

It seems that voice mail options are different too.. Kansas City its 14 days for saved messages, here its 7... Portland Or was different too in the time limits for messages So does anyone have an answer on whether a call from 850-950 will be billed as all peak or only 11 minutes peak? I live in Indy... |

In Southern IL the minutes change when the time changes - if you start on peak and go past 9 pm it'll change to off peak. Another problem I have is that I have 2 different coverage areas on 2 different plans. I have to send them 2 checks now because they bill from 2 different centers. I've sent 1 check for both bills for 3 years, now I have to send 2. |

The way VZW bills is sneaky. They have a glitch in the system that allocates charges for your calls based on this: At any duration of the call, if 1 min was peak time, the whole call is counted against your peak minutes. If you call customer care and point it out, they will credit you back the mins. Thing is, it is a glitch that is to VZW's benifit, and against yours. Eventualy they will have to correct this. But, to their benifit, I'm sure they'll take their time.

Yes, the policy is different in different regions. In Colorado, the call that covers two time periods is called "SP", or a SPanned call, and is billed exactly the number of minutes, and seconds(!), in the appropriate Peak or Off-Peak periods. -Bill |
