I've tried Sprint (w/ a Sprint TP1100 phone), and the service SUCKED! Rude and unhelpful customer svc. folks. Now I go with a local company, which now I see is not meeting my need. I can only call within a certain region in Ohio. And I had to purchase long distance minutes extra. But I can't use those long distance minutes if I'm out of the local calling area, because my phone cuts off. Not to mention, I get a LOT of dropped calls. Originally I thought I'd only be calling within Ohio, but now I see I was wrong. Which are the best calling plans & phones that you've found in Ohio? I talk on the phone a lot...local and long distance. Mainly in the daytime, and some at night. I'm tired of getting a bad deal. Any advise/recommendations would be helpful. -- signed, bizzee

Biz, It all depends on where you live and where you go. If you stay mostly across northern or eastern Ohio, Alltel is preferred. If you run up and down I-71, Cingular and Verizon are good. If you travel to southern Ohio, AT&T is best. Otherwise, you can price-shop among most of the major carriers, as long as their coverage includes where you go. You might live in a hard-to-cover spot. Sprint and Northcoast get generally good remarks here. -Bill |

My experience with Verizon in southern Ohio has been great...I'm on my third year with them.

Wow, Im surprised that you have that many problems with Northcoast, I had them for about a year and loved it, the only reason that I dont have them now is I am moving just outside their coverage area, well that any my company is paying for a phone for me. What city do you live in? I am in Elyria and even though that is the western edge of the coverage, it was great, I did get the occasional dropped call, but nothing like Sprint, I too had major issues with them also. Have you had your 5170 checked? That was the phone that I had also, thought it was a dam good phone, actually has better voice quality that my Verizon LG VX10. If you go with Verizon, their service is dam good, it will cost you more, but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for, I do some traveling and dont have any problems making or recieving calls anywhere (yet).
