phone not fowarding msgs to voicemail

when i first got my nokia 3390 a week ago, my friends could leave msgs on my vm. no it won't foward at all. if my phones off they get a "customer has traveled out of service area" recording, and if it's on then it just rings and rings and rings, then just cuts them off. can someone help me with this problem?

you need to check your forwarding options on your phone - specifically the one that says "forward when not able to take calls" or something like that. make sure the number it is set to is 1-areacode-prefix-9999, where the area code and prefix are the same as your number.
