Does anyone know if Verizon is planning to offer 1xrtt data services to AC users?

From what I understand, AC users can only get regluar mobile web unless they add an Express Network subscription w/a PC card. Seems to me that Verizon is a bit behind the boat on this one...Voicestream offers GPRS, Cingular offers GPRS in a few places, ATTWS offers GPRS (on a very limited basis) and SPCS will have 1xrtt in a few days...

you dont need a pc card. You do need to add an express network plan in order to use the service. Sprint is going to be the same way.

So Sprint and Verizon are going to make people buy separate plans to use high speed data (one plan for voice, one for data)??? Seems like a limiting move considering all the GSM carriers just make you pay a few $$ extra for GPRS service. Maybe I am misunderstanding you...I want high speed data for surfing on my wireless phone, not pc, palm, or any other device. From Verizon's website, it looks like you can only get 1xrtt for PCs or palm devices...not as an add-on like regular wireless web...hence my original question.

I have a question about CDMA2000 -- does it only enhance data or does it have enhancements for voice too? All I ever see when I try to research it is that it speeds up data transfers. Does anyone know if a CDMA2000 phone will have better sound quality or will ring all the time when you get calls. One thing I've noticed with Verizon and Sprint is that sometimes (mainly more when the signal is low) the phone won't ring when it is called. Is this a characteristic of CDMA or all cell phones in general?

Hello Well, CDMA2000 increases voice capcity, battery life and call quality. In addition to all of that as you conveyed, data speeds also improve. Other than that, I don't know anything much about it.
