Help with Ohio service

Hi- This is my first post and I'm looking for help. I live in the Dorset/Andover Ohio area and currently have service with Verizon. I'm looking to change though because since moving here, I have almost no signal in this area! Consequently my wireless phone is useless from home. Since this is where I make most of my long distance calls from, I'm hoping to find a carrier with better service in this area. Can anyone offer advice?

After looking at where you live, since Verizon does not do well at your house, your best bet would be Alltel, there are a few tricks to see how much signal you can get at your house with your current phone. If you dial *22801, you will force your phone onto Alltels system to see how much signal you have, or you can *22805 and check Sprint, but from the coverage maps on their website, I doubt you that will get a signal.

AT&T shows the entire area covered as does Cingular, so that might be an option as well.

Nextel's maps look pretty lean in that area, they show service for that zip code, but dont know if that would be a good option.

T-Mobile also looks pretty lean on the coverage side.

go with alltel..they seem to heve better coverage in that area...never used T-Mobile in that area...but they suck here. So go with Alltel..it may be your best bet!

Company to spend $12M on new cell phone transmitters
DAYTON - Cingular Wireless said Thursday it will improve service by spending $12 million on 56 new cell phone transmitters in southern Ohio, including sites in the Dayton area, by the end of the year.

Work is complete on 21 new cellular relay points, including downtown Lebanon in Warren County, according to Tony Schrader, director of sales for southern Ohio.

`Network quality is a major criteria for customers who are choosing a wireless provider,' Schrader said. `Clearer, higher- quality calls, faster data speeds and extensive coverage are essential in meeting consumers' wireless needs today. That is what we are focused on delivering.'

In Miami County, the company added equipment to boost service along Interstate 75 in the southern Tipp City area and around Dayton International Airport in Montgomery County.

To the west in Darke County, Cingular said it enhanced coverage along U.S. 127 and around Greenville.

Butler County cell phone service was strengthened along I-75 and in the Middletown area.

In the Springfield-Clark County area, coverage was enhanced along Interstate 70 and U.S. 40. It also was improved around the Upper Valley Mall and along U.S. 68 and Ohio 41.

Bellefontaine and Logan County service improved along U.S. 68 and Ohio 47 and in the village of Zanesfield on Ohio 292.

In the Cincinnati area, Cingular customers have better service along Interstate 74 and in the Harrison and Grosbeck communities.

Across the Ohio River, service was boosted in Boone County, Verona, Crittenden and Sherman, Ky.

In greater Columbus, service was improved around Rickenbacker Air Force Base, Lockbourne, Sawmill Road, Ohio 161 and Don Scott Airport.

Cingular is a joint venture of SBC Communications and

South and has more than 25 million customers around the United States.

Cingular is the second largest U.S. cell phone company after Verizon Wireless with 37.5 million customers, according to published figures.

Next is AT&T Wireless with 21.7 million.

Cingular has moved to acquire AT&T Wireless.
