Sprint PCS in Detroit needs improvements
I'm definitely not too impressed with Sprint PCS wireless service in the Detroit area. Sprint has been around for awhile and it still has many problems that most newer wireless services don't. I signed up with Sprint because I wasn't happy with my previous service carrier Ameritech. (Ameritech was in the process of updating their old wireless networks and kept dropping my important calls). Although Sprint didn't show much range as far as service plans went (they didn't offer a nationwide plan or any unlimited minutes plans), I was attracted to the idea of having more free minutes and clearer calls with other people who were on the Sprint PCS network. I had a lot of friends and family who were using Sprint PCS and I would be able to save money. I ended up having to purchase the phone AND the service plan because of my need to have the best phone they offered at the time. That was costly. I also lose a lot of calls and/or get roaming/analog service in my home service area. Even Ameritech's plan was better than this one. One thing I did like about Sprint PCS service is that when I travelled out of Michigan, I would get fairly good digital service in other states (New York, Florida). They only charge a long-distance rate, (providing you don't go over your free minutes), out-of-state which is often times cheaper than their roaming rates. I would probably recommend Sprint PCS to people who don't use their phone a lot. It would be more than sufficient for "emergency" users. |
