I was ready to go out and buy a Verizon phone, but then the great deal on Amazon.com came along and a I thought twice. Now I'm looking towards Sprint because I can get a cool f****ng phone for free+free shipping! I'm looking for thoughts from people that currently have Sprint. I know it used to be so-so, but I've also heard that they they've improved greatly, and I know that they have some new technology coming out in soon that should make things better yet. So, is sprint still unreliable and unclear (or was it actually ever unreliable and unclear)? Thanks Again, Joe P.S. Amazon isn't offering Verizon as a choice, or else I'd be all over it |

IT all depends on where you are located Jack

Go to places where having your service is critical (home, work, etc) and check the signal stregnth, make a few test calls, etc. Sprint (the company) gives you 14 days no questions asked to try it (but you will pay for airtime that you use) before you are stuck in a contract. |

I am a fan of Sprint PCS, but also a fan of Voicestream. Amazon.com is offering a free Motorola v60g for free with Voicestream Wireless (T-Mobile) service.

Sprint PCS by many is considered to be the worst wireless provider in the Chicago area.

Why is there always so many Chicagoans on the wireless forums anyway? It seems like there should be just as many of us from Los Angeles but we don't even come close.

Don't do it!! I thought the same thing by signing up with Sprint in the Cleveland area, and the phones aren't that good and the service just sucks. And their customer support reps... ohhh man, don't even get me started. When my contract is up in a month, I'll be the first one in line at the Verizon store.

I definitly would not choose a service provider just because they have a nice phone and free shipping. It really doesn't matter if Sprint will be coming out with 3G soon. What you really want in a service provider is good coverage. From what I have read on all the posts is that Chicago has a lot of pin holes in their coverage in the Chicago area.

If you are going to get new service in Cleveland, then you might wanna get T-Mobile (Voicestream). There coverage is very, very extensive. They cover everywhere in and around Cleveland, from Cleveland to Toledo, to Columbus, to Pittsgurgh, and on up the the shore of Lake Erie. Believe me, I actually saw the maps.

Consider Alltel and T-mobile as alternatives to Verizon Jack

Aiwapro - Just for kicks, what area of the country would you tell people to NOT get Voicestream? Never ever heard you say it wasn't a good fit somewhere. Just being nosey. |

Adawg, I'll give you a hand: Aiwapro, do you recommend T-Mobile for Montana or Alaska? or do I have to postpone my buying a cellphone and wait until they cover those states because they will cover them sometime soon, like 2010? by the way, you can kiss Jamie lee curtis goodbye cuz she is not in the t-mobile website. |

I recommend Voicestream in places that they have coverage. Case Closed! I know that Jamie Lee Curtis will be gone from Voicestream. She will leave Voicestream with Voicestream. This is very, very old news, and if you must know, Catherine Zeta-Jones is the T-Mobile spokesperson now. |

But how do you know they have coverage is the real question? I can look on Sprint's site and see that they have coverage in Chicago, but we all here know that the coverage sucks. I saw a post a few months ago where you told a person from Troy to get Voicestream because you always got a good signal in Detroit (the two times you were here). Do you realize Troy is a good distance from Detroit, and coverage varies greatly city to city? I appreciate all the help on this board, it helped me choose my current provider that I really like. However, blantant advertising, regardless of experience or first hand knowledge is misleading and is not in the spirit of this board. I'll get off my soapbox now..... |

I'm not sure that the coverage was the problem in Chicago. I remember reading that it was blocked calls mainly which is due to the limited trunk lines supplied by the local phone companies. Is this correct? G. |

That's what I heard also about Sprint. I think Voicestream had the same issue in Chicago. Sounds like the problem there is the landline phone company. Verizon has been sued here a couple of times by ISP's and other communication companies for the same reason.

Markv83, I live in the NW Suburbs in the Chicago area and have Cingular service. I hate it! I must live in one of those pin holes you mentioned. My contract is up in December and am shopping around, looking at Sprint or Verizon. |

wlks1, Here in Columbus I get great SPCS coverage everywhere except in Upper Arlington. I think their township or whatever it is doesn't allow any towers to be built there. Unfortunatly I work in that part of town I know how it must be not to have coverage where you spend quite a bit of your time. Mark |

However, back to the issue at hand. Firstly, I am well enough versed in cell technology to know you are a slap dick when it comes to Voicestream. Further, on numerous occasions I have seen you endorse service for Michigan based on 2 whole trips to the area. Give me a break. You can tell me my facts are wrong, but there are plenty people here that can vouch that you often recommend a service provider for areas you have no specific knowledge of. That is my only point, relax there, killer.

I can spell. My question to you is why do you have to hide behind that d*** anonymous posting, instead of just getting a username. Are you scared that someone will notice that you are the same person in every thread, being giving misleading information and making an a** of yourself, I think so. I have been to Michigan way more than 2 times, it's only like 15 minutes away from where I live. I travel there quit frequently, where it be to shop, to the airport, or to visit friends and family. |

you should ask people around your area what they use and if its good. Thats easiest. Doesnt hurt to try out any provider, just be aware of the time limit allowed to cancel with no penalty. And also, when you look at coverage maps, if the whole area is shown as coverage color coded, there can still be dead spots/holes in the service. Goodluck fyi certain phones have better reception than others, so ask a rep of your carrier for their honest oppinion. They will usually tell you. |

I don't "hide behind that damn anonymous" as you so eloquently put it. I simply did not enter my username by mistake. Anyone with any sense realized it was me responding, but wow, what an astute observation you made. There, does that make you feel smart now. Also, again you eloquently write, "you are the same person in every thread, being giving misleading information and making an a** of yourself." I'm glad you feel I am being giving, however, this is a non sequitur with the remainder of your sentence. =) I also challenge you to find one example of me giving misleading information. There you go, I just gave you enough rope to hang yourself. You spouted off at the mouth, let's see your proof. I will abstain from any further petty bickering and get to the matter at hand. You live in Toledo, correct? So what, you often make it up to Monroe, with an occasional trip to either Detroit or Romulus (city and metro airports)? All those places are nowhere near areas that, in the past, you have suggested are strong Voicestream areas based on your road trips. I'm going to go ahead an end this banter, as it is a lot like trying to reason with a two-year old. Just remember, you have lost credibility with most, if not all, the people who read this board regularly. To quote your famous tagline, with my edits, Get Voicestream, if it is a reasonable, viable option. Thanks.

I thought you were that anonymous poster that keeps going around to every thread and giving false information. I still don't know that it's not you, and I'm not accussing it of being you, but you still don't need to be trying to be an English and correct every word that I say. Anyways, like I said before, I only tell people that Voicestream has coverage in places, I don't tell them if it is good or not unless I have been there or know friends who have been there. Also, I travel other places in Michigan aswell. What are you trying to do, track where I travel or something? It's know use, I have no set pattern or anything, but where I have to go, I go. |

Umm, yeah, whatever. However, I am trying to point out your errors in hopes that you will become a better writer. Some current examples are: "It's know use" = Its no use "Michigan aswell" = Michigan as well "you still don't need to be trying to be an English and correct every word that I say. " = let's make this one your homework assignment. Turn it in by Sunday for a grade.

I know how to write, so therefore I don't need you correcting me after every post. I write or shall I say type on here rather quickly so I can just get my point across and move on. There is no need for me to go back and proofread my every statement, but if you want that's fine, just keep in to yourself.
