Check out VoiceStream. They have 500 anytime/unlimited weekends for 39.99. This includes nationwide roaming and long distance.

That's not really aas good as it sounds. VoiceStream offers no roaming while on their network anywhere in the US. Their network is not very large.

Also..GSM hardly has the digital footprint of CDMA or TDMA.

I would look into Verizonicon. The America's Choice plans are very good. AT&Ticon has good nationwide coverage, but I don't know about their plans.

    Kevin probably knows better.

Um... What? VoiceStream phone's can roam infact there plans right now have free Digital roaming. Now it is true that most area's just have one GSM provider and sometimes none but they can roam on other networks such as AT&Ticon GSM network in some cities, and where Cingular Wireless has GSM coverage and VoiceStream does not. It is true however that GSM isn't avaible everywhere and the phones have no analog roaming what so ever. I'd have to agree with Malial look into the new America Choice Plans from Verizon Wirelessicon.

Let me tell you about Voicestream, yes they are GSM. The reason why they don't have such a huge network as CDMA, is because they are independent. If they do get roaming contracts to make their coverage larger, they will only havea few choices. Their are not that many GSM companies in North America. There is Cingular, Voicestream, and AT&Ticon is switching their network over to GSM right now.
Wanna talk about service, Voicestream's service is great. Whereever I go they are there. They don't lie about coverage that they do not have. All you have to do is go to their website and look at the map. If they have coverage in the locations that you want, you are in luck. If they don't then they will have it there soon. They have licenses to over 93% of the U.S. That's why they can be independent.
    Plans:
Their plans are great too. The best plan is what they call their GET MORE! plan, and beleive me, you get more. You get more anytime minutes and included features than any other company. The GET MORE! plan gives you 500 whereever, whenever minutes (Free Long Distance, Free Nationwide Roaming); UNILIMITED weekend minutes (Free Long Distance, Free Nationwide Roaming); 50 incoming 2-way messages (get 500 incoming and outgoing messages for only $2.99/month); 3-way calling; call waiting; free voicemail; and more.

Email me at my address below for more questions.

CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE FOR MORE INFO:
Voicestream Wireless (click on Products & Services or Order Store)

Small correction: AT&Ticon and VS do not have a roaming agreement.

Go here for a list of VS roaming partners:
