I'm wondering if anybody else knew about this, or if it's new. I have the $1.95/mo e-mail address, but I always thought it was only to receive messages. Finally today, I started receiving e-mails with the actual e-mail address as the sender and not "0001112222" which meant it was from e-mail or a web alert and not a text from another phone. So I tried entering my e-mail address and sending as a text and it worked! My sister could do this with AT&T a long time ago, but it must be something new for USCC. Here's what the sent message looked like when I sent it to my normal e-mail account (I *** out my personal info. All I wrote was "Maybe this will" as in maybe this message will work): From 608******* <608*******@email.uscc.net> Sent Wednesday, April 28, 2004 5:02 pm To rgm****@students.wisc.edu Cc Bcc Subject This email was sent from a US Cellular handset Maybe this will ____________________________________ U.S. Cellular - We Connect with You. www.uscc.com |

A few days ago I noticed that the sender's e-mail address was no longer a part of the body of the message, but became a separate item. Tried sending to an e-mail address, and it worked (took about 1 minute to receive the message, though). The question is - how is it charged for? Is it part of owning the e-mail address service, or does each message incur the SMS message charge. Thanks for posting this! |

I assume that it will be billed as a SMS, as that is how AT&T does it. It makes sense to me, but it would be nice it if was included. Next time I'm by a USCC retail store, I think I'll stop in and ask. And about the senders address being a seperate item, that's what I meant too. Sorry if my mumbo jumbo was confusing. When I receive an e-mail, the senders address is what shows up on my list, just as a person's name would show up if it were a text message. It used to just show "0001112222" as the sender and then include the senders e-mail address in the message, as you pointed out. I tried it 3 times, and 2 of the times it was almost instantaneous as a text message would be, one of the times it took almost 5 minutes! |
