Starting tomorrow, the local coverage area in MI will expand to more closely represent the America's Choice coverage in MI. There are still some place that AC coverage will get you no roaming, but its good to see the local area growing and growing alot.

Mcf04581, do you know when Verizon is going to update Michigan's local maps? I checked today and they still are not updated! Any ideas?

Gamer03: They will probably be updated on Wednesday of next week. I spoke w/ VZW about this today, as well as the fact that the west coast zip codes seem to have been updated to provide for additional minutes for AC (eg, $99.99 AC plan increases anytime minutes from 1600 to 2000). The VZW rep that I spoke with told me that the Michigan market would get these plan updates on Wednesday; I suspect that that is when we will see new maps as well. |

I havent heard anything on the eastern half of the U.P other than the whole RFB/Alltel thing. I would post the map but I cant cut and paste it and I cant copy the link cause its on our internal website and you guys wont be able to access it. Im curious when they are going to update maps as well. They havent even updated the Americas Choice yet with the new KY coverage yet.

Good to see more local coverage, in MI. I am hoping for more CenturyTel Coverage north of Traverse City, and northwest of torch lake, when I go there for the 4th of July.

just a fyi, to my knowledge, existing users on our local calling plans will have to switch to the bigger local area....ie. there are different codes in the system for the bigger calling area. we'll find out for sure when it launches officially.

Andy84094 Hey mcf, I heard somewhere that you guys know exactly how many dropped calls a specific user has...Is that true? And you guys have maps of where cellsites are in a specific area, right?? Would you be "IN" in giving me some info please??? Thanks, Andy In the MI market neither of those is true. For some reason they got rid of our screen to find out the number of dropped calls in the last 30 days, but we are switching billing systems soon so maybe it will find its way back. We do have a map program that is supposed to list cell site locations, but in MI it doesnt show them yet, im not sure about other states cause I havent looked. jayatmtu mcf04581 Is there an update coming out soon to deal with the whole RFB/Alltel situation..because it sure would be nice!!! Thanks! I expect to see a change on that very soon. Nothing has been passed out from corperate on the matter, but those of us who know who to ask are usually kept up to date. Rasputin Good to see more local coverage, in MI. I am hoping for more CenturyTel Coverage north of Traverse City, and northwest of torch lake, when I go there for the 4th of July. Its actually all Alltel area now and while I can say that Traverse is pretty well covered now, mostly with digital, im not sure about the northwest area of torch lake because I have not been nor heard from anyone coming back from that area. Dv8 just a fyi, to my knowledge, existing users on our local calling plans will have to switch to the bigger local area....ie. there are different codes in the system for the bigger calling area. we'll find out for sure when it launches officially. Your right, you have to switch to a current local plan of at least 34.99 or higher to get the expanded coverage. |

I have heard a few rumors about RFB Cellular AKA Cellular one. RFB is in Bankruptcy and they are up for sale. Right now there are 2 Wireless company's that are seriously interested in purchasing RFB cellulars Eastern UP and Northern Lp areas. One of the company's is Verizon. Nothing is imminent but Verizon buying RFB is a probobal possibility because RFB is a cdma carrier.
