Should anyone have any feedback (positive and/or negative) on experiences with Verizon's wireless service in Milwaukee, I'd appreciate it. Seriously thinking of switching from AT&T's TDMA soon. Mostly interested in feedback on frequency of dropped calls, successful calls completion, coverage and signal strength. In and around buildings, hills, all weather, etc... Also, roaming on the "America's Choice" plan and how often roaming occurs or accuracy of phone's roaming indicator, etc... Thanks!! |

Verizon was so-so in Milwaukee. It's PCS and wasn't great. I think anthromatt had some bad experience there before he changed to Sprint.

I have Verizon service with a Samsung a530 in Milwaukee and it works great for me. I live downtown and get full strength pretty much everywhere I go downtown. You get a good signal pretty much all over the Milwaukee metro area. There are some places where my phone will switch to extended network when I get inside some buildings, but no big deal since you aren't paying extra for it. I haven't had one drop call since moving here 5 months ago. Overall, I'd highly recommend Verizon in Milwaukee. Depending on how and where you use your phone, I think US Cellular would be another company to look at too. They have nice plans. Good Luck!

Thanks for that input from you all on Verizon. It's helpful. Yes... I suppose nothing's nearly perfect in the wireless USA. It seems to get better slowly but surely. However, it seems like Verizon has an edge on their competitors in terms of overall coverage and better service from what I've read. Maybe not on price, but I want the highest quality. Also hear US Cellular's not bad in the Milwaukee area either. I need a nationwide plan with excellent coverage. I travel all over the U.S. major metro areas.

pilot, sounds like verizon would be a good choice for you. i'm not sure how us cellular's national plan is (span america). just take advantage of the 15 day trial periods and see what works for you in the places you need it.

I have had pretty good coverage the 6-7 times I was there. There were a couple of areas I did not get good interior coverage. Other than that the coverage was great.

My experience with Verizon is quite good and always improving. Verizon is always ahead of US Cell when it comes to technology. US Cell has finally released their version of Get It now a year after Verizon did. I remember it took them forever to come out with Internet access when Verizon had it for a while. Although US Cell has had a history of "better coverage" in the Midwest, I don't think this is correct any more. Verizon's map now surpasses US Cells coverage map with covering Major metro areas and everything in between in Wisconsin. And of course US Cell is no comparison when travelling nationwide. I have the VX6000 (all-digital) and have been quite satisfied with the digital coverage I get. Rah rah, Verizon! No I don't work for them. |

| VZW's coverage in WI is all done thru roaming with USCC and CellCom. Even though there's the big roaming agreement with alltel, vzw phones still preferr uscc. National plan wise though, (for true no roaming anywhere) the SpanAmerica plans are actually better than the single rate plans. The SpanAmerica plan has for $54.95 400 anytime, and 3000 local Nights and Weekends, the Single rate has only 400 anytime. (its not fair to compare a preferred network plan to a 'if your phone has a signal you can use it' plan). -r |
