Cellular one works there. The nearest store is in Virginia.

Ill warn you though, the coverage is EXTREMELY spotty throughout northern minnesota. In Ely proper you should be fine.......but outside of that, don't expect great service.

If the coverage in northern Minnesota is spotty, would I be better off to have a analog/digital phone, all digital, or wouldn't it really matter. I'm trying to decide between the lg 4400 and the lg 4500.

If digital is real spotty in northern Minnesota, IMO I would get a tri-mode ("analog and digital")

You can also check with your local store and ask their opinion.

BTW, that is just my personal perference (sp?)

Hope this helps.

BTW, welcome to WA!!

I would definitely get a tri-mode phone if you need N. MN coverage. CDMA isnt really all that plentiful up there right now, it will be better in a year or two, but there are large swaths of just TDMA and AMPS.
