Does anyone know when the GSM is going to be rolled out in Michigan for Cellular One Dobson? I have been told by the end of the year but have yet to conferm that.

Anyone have any insider info??

Looks like they have Traverse City MI area GSM 850 turned on.

I talked to the Wausau WI office last month and the rep told me all of Dobson's TDMA 800 coverage will be overlayed with GSM 850 by the end of 1st Qtr 2004.

The rep said they will be carrying dual band GSM phones as well as GAIT phones.

I would guess you will be able to subscribe to GSM service shortly after that.

ATT Wireless (since they own a 20% stake in the network) is already using Dobson's GSM 850 network in Wausau and Eau Claire for roaming coverage.

Here in my area, they keep telling me after the first of the year. Also, just for reference, AT&T owns nothing in Dobson. They completely pulled out. They just have roaming agreements in place. Also, Cingular has roaming agreements with Dobson, but identifies these new roaming areas as future coverage on their National GSM Coverage Map.
