I have Alltel and I use my phone in N.E. LP all the time. For a general idea, signals are great in Cheboygan thanks to a new tower, Mackinaw City, and I-75 all the way downstate. Signals are pretty good all over Mullett lake with an ocational switch to anolog. I drove all the way to Houghton Michigan in the UP and I never lost the signal with my exterior antenna and amp connected. Where exactly would you use the phone the most? |

Unfortunately I have no Idea how the service is in Oscoda. I got my amp and antenna from (www.criterioncellular.com) I have the Motorola V60i and it works great. There is a newer version out now with higher data speeds, but it is basically the same. Do you have Cingular GSM or TDMA? |

See if you can look into the menu on your phone and look at the SID # of the carrier your Cingular phone is roaming on up there. It may be Alltel. If it's Alltel (SID1338 or 244), the service would be the same as what you have been using. It could be CellularOne of N.E. Michigan (1337).

Thanks for all the help but i am in Florida for a few months. I will check that when i get home. I was just trying to get info on Alltel for when i get home. They told me here that i can get Alltel Local in Florida and change to Michigan Local when i return with no extra charges. But i think i will wait until i get back to good old Michigan so i can use that 15 day free trial |

| CDMA: I have the same sort of curiosity about NE LP as snobrd...but I'm not going to be basking in the sun all winter! I'm wondering if the Alltel and/or Cellular One Northeast coverage is digital in all or most places? I'm looking for coverage east of I-75 in the Lewiston area and S and East of there. Any idea since you seem familiar with that area? Also, any idea if a VZW v60i can be used for these w/o having to buy a new phone? Snobrd: There have been lots of "snobrds" going down Hwy 23 lately...its pretty discouraging to seem the with their SUV's all loaded and the bicycles on the back....while people are stuck in morning commute traffic!!! LOL Maybe next year.... Thanks.... |

I'm not sure exactly how far Lewiston is from I-75 but I can tell you that Alltel and CellularOne are both digital on I-75. Yes, a Verizon V60i could be activated on Alltel's network. Alltel has a special on the V60x for $50.00 after rebate on a 2-year contract or something like $120.00 on a 1-year. Your best bet for activating your v60i would be to take it to your local Alltel store, probably inside your local Wallmart, and have them do it. You should be able to avoid a contract if you do that. |
