USCellular's brew implementation was talked about here for months, but now that it has been introduced in Chicago, I see no posts about it. Did anyone order it and try it, except the reps? Anyone finds it useful? I personally thought that shelling out a few hundred beans for a new phone that will allow me to pay for more services wasn't such a good idea. Furthermore, their services just didn't seem interesting enough. And the promotion of 2 free months ($12 value, whoo-hoo) isn't appealing either. If I am missing something, maybe we should start a discussion here. Personally I would rather pay $2 for the e-mail address and another $3 for some outgoing text messages. |

It is likely that my expectations were off, that's part of the reason for this discussion. As I said, it seemed a few months ago like this forum was really waiting for new features from USCC, but now that they are available, no one is here to talk about them. I was hoping to hear from those who were already using the features and found them valuable. One thing I was expecting is a more useful selection of applications and a better deal on compatible phones. The monthly data rate seems reasonable, but not shelling out for a new phone just to have access to the given app bundle. If you have any experience you'd like to share, please do. |

I was very excited a few months ago at the thought of checking e-mail, getting weather, other web browsing (even just like my friends non-Vison Sprint phone) Didn't need anything fancy, just wanted access. Now that I found out I can't use my 3 month old 3586i for anything but text messages, I'm pretty turned off. I guess if I really want that stuff, I'd rather switch to a national provider (Verizon, Sprint) and pay for a phone with them and be ahead of the game for once. I'm just a little ticked off at the situation.

Below are the apps available. This is only the beginning though so in time more will come out. As for the phone situation, yea I really understand your frustration. I don't know whats really happening with this since there was alot of confusion on which phones could do what when USCC went to CDMA. I will be indulging into this more next week once I finally get my easyedge phone and I can post more on any questions about apps you have. If you have them now you can call the 888-944-9400 number and listen for the easyedge prompt. The team has been getting lots of questions so they should be up to speed on helping you all out. If you have more questions post em here and I'll see what I can do to get the answers for you. I've had easyedge now for about 12 hours and I can tell you I like Sprint's Vision better!! I know that easyedge is new and I'm glad that USCC is finally offering data services. But I think it is stupid that you have to pay a monthly fee to check sports scores, get stock quotes and get news headlines!! I like that Vision has a home page where you can go and get info. With USCC, you have to pay a subscription fee on top of the monthly MB plan just to look at stuff. I can see the fees for games and ringers but not for news, sports and stock info. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Vision but I feel that USCC dropped the ball when it comes to the whole monthly subscription thing on every application!! Glad the first 2 months of easyedge are free!!

I agree about the monthly subscription fees... come to think of it, to have a nice all-around package (news, weather, sports, stocks) you will shell out at least $12 extra, plus data fees. hmm.

No WAP and no tethering of notebooks, that is a pretty poor data service, it's like a stripped down version of what the other guys offer, only more expensive. They don't have it in NW California yet anyway, still only TDMA here, but it doesn't sound like much to get excited about, I will stick with my AT&T Wireless and Edge Wireless (AT&T Affiliate operating a 1900 GSM/GPRS and TDMA network in CA, OR, ID and WY) Data

I spoke with a rep at a "Go Wireless" store at the mall. Got into a long conversation with him about how I was promised that my LG-VX10 would work with brew when it was released. Now, as it turns out, its not. He advised me to call customer service about the issue and complain. I did. I was told that many (could be hundreds for all we know) people with LG-VX10's were promised the same. She told me that they were working on a possible discounted upgrade solution for us VX-10 users. I would really like an upgrade to an LG-VX4400! I tried out that phone while I was at the "go" store. I also don't like the fact that theres no "WAP" access. I would still be happy with my VX-10 if there was WAP, even without brew. So, if anyone knows someone who has the power to give me wap access, knowing that it will resolve my brew issue, let me know... I'm also turned off by the billing. Seems that they are trying to get people twice compared to sprint (just uses airtime for data usage). I would also like to be able to hook my phone up to a comp for wireless access...But no, USCC requires an expensive air card. Whats the difference between the air card and a phone anyway? Seems to me that you should be able to use either. I will be posting a new forum on the whole VX-10 Matter... Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I used it the first day I got it and haven't used it since!! The cost of the monthly apps are not worth the extra money! $5.99 or $10.99 a month and then USCC expects you to pay extra to use the apps they offer!! No thanks!! If you want a good data service, go with Vision!

I know that this is an old thread but... IMHO, I'm glad US Cellular charges extra for all of this stuff. Sure, it would be nice to play with EasyEdge but I don't need it. Frankly, we chose US Cellular because it had outstanding coverage in Wisconsin and, for a family plan, we are paying $10-15 less than we would with any other company. We left sprint because the new vision packages were too expensive for the coverage afforded. My guess is that Sprint, Verizon, Cingular, etc. rolled the cost of new features into the standard packages. For me, I've had text messaging and internet capability for a while now and I've NEVER used it, ever. I think US Cellular decided long ago to be the carrier offering the most coverage for less and that's why they've been "behind" the others featurewise. I also think I'll be happier for it in the end when I've paid $360 less in a two year contract term. We just signed with US Cellular and get two months free EasyEdge, I doubt if I'll even take advantage of the offer. ty |
