We bought Verizon to use at WMU in Kalamazoo Michigan, but it's not working there. Does anyone have any recent experience with other services in that area. Help...I need to get a new phone today or tomorrow! THANKS!

A few questions... 1) When did you buy it? If you bought it before June 1, 2003, Kalamazoo will not be included in your plan. I am assuming you have the America's Choice network..a simple software update on your phone will take care of that problem! Dial *228 from your phone while receiving a digital signal, and you will eventually hear an automated voice come on and say "Press one to program your phone, press two to update your roaming list". Press Option 1, wait for 35 seconds of elevator music to go by (lol) and you'll hear a confirmation voice saying that it went through. That should take care of the problem. 2) If it doesn't...what type of phone do you have? If you have a Dual Mode phone (Verizon Digital and PCS Digital) I don't believe Kalamazoo has a digital service yet with Verizon Wireless. All-Digital phones from Verizon include the VX3100, VX3100L, Samsung a530, and the VX6000 Camera Phone. That would explain probably why you cannot get serivce down there. I hope those help...I have friends that have Tri-Mode phones through Verizon that use them down in Kalamazoo, so I hear it does work down there. Never been there myself though! Dennee, go to Alltel and get your service. I used to have Verizon out of Grand Rapids, but was roaming in this area all the time and couldn't use half my features. Alltel works very well all around Portage and Kalamazoo. There is an office on Westnedge Ave. across from Target and next door to Qdoba Restaurant. They have great people there to deal with also. Hope this helps. Lynn |

I would do as AZO suggested and try Alltel. They offer a similar plan to the AC called National Freedom. Their main roaming partner is Verizon so much of the service will be the same. All features such as caller id and voicemail will also be transparent when roaming on Verizon. Brad |
