How is Verizon's coverage in Indianapolis, IN, particularly the international airport there? Also, how is the coverage in Danville, Illinois, traveling from Indianapolis, Indiana to Danville, Illinois taking I-74 Is the service digital, or does it switch to analog at all? Finally, how is the coverage overall in Illinois and Indiana? Are any areas analog, or all digital? How is the coverage in rural areas, such as Covington, Indiana? Thanks

Gamer- I've had excellent coverage in IN with Verizon! Their market is very strong there. I had good signal in the Indy airprot as well, however while sitting at the bar (having a few drinks...hehe) I did get a dropped call and my phone switched to analog, but then it switched back to digital and it happened once more, but in the month I was up there that was the first time it happened. It was just somehting about where I was sitting, it worked good everywhere else in the airport. I was staying in a very small town while I was up there (just west of Kokomo) and coverage was excellent. It was digital, but on the Extended Network, no big deal it still worked good (I just couldn't get all the features. ie:message waiting indicator and text messaging). The only other coverage out there was US Cellular, but I've never even heard of them. As for IL I can't help you there. Never been, but I'm 90% sure that if your traveling on an Interstate your coverage will be very strong and most likely all digital. Take a look at their coverage map to see about Danville. |

I live in Indiana and travel all over the state on business trips. I have had nothing but good experiences with the coverage here. For the most part you will have a digital signal on the interstate save a few sporadic areas of spotty coverage. Even off of the interstates you won't be disappointed with the digital coverage here.

My experience in IN/IL is traversing the states along I-70 and I-80. Both routes have excellent, digital coverage. I was stuck in a traffic jam at the Indy airport (1-overturned truck, and 2-A Phish concert at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, of all places!), and it was an excellent time to catch up on some calls, with full bars in the area. IN/IL is very kind to us B-Channel western users. The problems start when we cross over in to A-channel Ohio. Another surprise was that many maps show no native Verizon coverage along I-70 in S. Central IL, when indeed it is all-Verizon and all digital. -Bill |
