Wow...I can't believe that Matt! Looks like sprints true colors are showing now. How could a company get that out of control? Maybe its time for you to try Cingular

Don't even think about cingular. I unfortunately have some cingular accounts for our salespeople here at work. The sales director didn't want to lose his number when he came to work for us because his "millions" of life long contacts in the industry, have that number. If number portabliity ever happens we won't have to worry about that any more, but that's besides the point. So, I put others on the same so as not to have too many providers. The shortest, and I mean shortest hold time I've ever had trying to reach customer service is about 25 minutes. 25 minutes before a human picks up, and the having to listen to the same stupid commercial over and over and over and over is annoying. I've had to wait as long a 40 minutes before. I feel two things are key in a provider; coverage and customer service. All the rest is nice extras.

Wow, Matt that is just incredible. I'm not one for government to get involved in anything, but the entire cellular industry is so out of control. Doing what they want, when they want, charging customers for the cost of doing business, not giving a rats behind, and customers have no real recourse other than paying them more money to quit the service. I think it is time for the Feds to step in, get rid of every chairman, CEO, president, and V.P. and run things for 6 months to a year. That way when they hand things back to a new set of the previous positions named, the new ones should be smart enough to not want to be out on their keysters for doing it the old way. The governmant can't possibly do a worse job or screw customers over more than what is happening right now. There is a bright side, Matt. At least no one has broken into your car for a while (I hope)!

Well, I managed to get my old number back. Vision still won't work, but that may take a while for the changes to push through the system. I was also promised a sizeable service credit as compensation for all the issues, but of course it was not applied and the person that promised it has not called me back like she said she would. So it's nice to have my number back but since I was promised credits I better get them. If she fails to call me back by 7pm I will call again and try to get it settled (I have her name).

Matt, from the looks of it T-Mobile appears to have good coverage in the Columbus, OH area. If you can get out of your Sprint PCS contract and live with Digital only (GSM) coverage maybe you should try out T-mobile.

Eh, since I got my phone number back I am less upset. I don't want to have to buy another new phone, and the free T-Mo phones don't appeal to me at all. As long as I get the credit I was promised I will be ok. EDIT: Everything is taken care of. Got my number back and I won't have to pay a bill for a few months now.

lol I was just kidding... figured it'd add a little excitement to your day. Glad everything is straightened out after a long haul... I wonder what would happen to the poor people who wouldn't call in more than once?

Glad you're taken care of. I'm interested to see what will happen after(assuming) number portability occurs. Wireless is a commodity business...its only the technology and customer service that separates them all. Verizon has lagged technology, Sprint, customer service. Seems like they're converging! As much as I enjoy Sprint functionality, I still get a better signal on Verizon! :-)

I'm starting to wonder if AnthroMatt is the problem Seems like everywhere he goes, drama follows... Since you are on Sprint 2.0 maybe you should come to the dark side and try verizon again They do have a nice new homepage. Funny guy! I actually don't like Verizon's new site...the yellow bugs me...I don't like that shade of yellow they use. Now if that isn't a valid reason not to use a provider, I don't know what is.

The only thing that bothers me is the fact that I have to use NetScrape to log in to my account. Glad to hear you got everything worked out. (For now) |

Really? That's weird. I remember when only IE worked, then only Nutscrape, then they all worked...now IE doesn't work again huh?

I can login fine with IE. It wouldn't make any sense to design a site around NutScrape, as AOL just laid off the 50 remaining netscape programmers.

Customer service in Ohio must suck...SPCS, Verizon, etc! Jesus, you have some bad luck. At least you will have a hundred dollar or so credit (you said you wouldn't have to pay for a few months), which if you think about it was a generous sum, though it should never have happened. I myself complained to Verizon on their crappy service at the beach and received 10$ credit.

Airbus330 Actually alltel is not that bad but I rarely call them. I have heard northcoast (Unlimited provider in Cleveland) is not too bad. Jack

I'm using IE6 now on a 2K machine and it will not work? I suppose it may be because it is connecting through another computer.... Oh well, maybe I'll switch to Sprint or something Who was it who won the best game of the year? Oh yeahhhhhhh we did didn't we? |

Craptain, what doesn't work about it? VZserve won't work unless you allow verizonwireless.com and airtouch.com to use cookies in IE. Otherwise, the window will pop up, and just read an error message.

any browser will work with the useless vzserve. you just have to turn cookie protection all the way off. not just to the low level, but way off. verizon is probably tracking my every move.

Actually I may have figured it out...VZServe here in Ohio is still directed to "airtouch.com" So if you enable all cookied from the airtouch domain it may also work without changing your general browser settings.

Matt: I'm sorry you've had to go through all of this. I'm not sucking up either. I don't understand how things just went ah-rye so quickly and without warning? Why has your phone had to be reprovisioned over and over?
