Default Extras, BAM or scam?

So I'm looking at the VX CDM 9500 and the $34.99 AC plan, now is that $1.99 detailed billing really necessary? And is the extended warranty really worthwhile?

Detailed billing is nice if you ever need to dispute a call or if you can get reimbursed from your employer for any work-related phonce calls you may make with you cell. If you do not choose detailed billing you will only see your airtime usage, but you will not get a breakdown of every number you called or the calls you received. I think it is worth an extra $1.99, but I also think it is too bad companies charge for that. If I am going to be billed for every call I make or receive I don't feel as though I should have to pay to get documentation of each call.

As for the extended warranty, I never pay for those or insurance. Some people do. If you are prone to breaking or losing things, it might not be a bad idea. Also, if you sign a 2 year contract, your phone warranty is only 1 year, so the extended warranty might be something you wish to consider. Obviously most people pay for it and never use it, or the insurance companies would go out of business. Some people like the piece of mind of an extended warranty or insurance. I think it is more of a personal choice.

I think the $1.99 is only for a printed copy of the detailed bill. You might be able to see the details on VZServe without paying extra. I don't even receive a pinted copy of my bill. You can print a copy from the Web site if you need one.

If you can view it from the web and don't need a bill for reimbursement, then yeah, I guess there is no point in paying the 2 bucks. However, my wife's employer requires the actual bill, not a computer printout, for reimburnsement of business-related calls. For me, having to pay extra for the detailed billing would be a must.

Default Extras, BAM or scam?

Now how much does the warranty on a new phone cover?

The 1 year warranty the comes with a phone covers any defects in the phone. If there is evidence you abused the phone (dropped it, dunked it in water) your warranty will probably not be honored. It will not cover theft or loss. If your phone is lost, stolen, or you break it, only insurance will replace it, minus the deductible.
