Does anyone here know if Alltel roams to Midwest Wireless in southern Minnesota, specifically Winona? The coverage area they give for that area looks like MWW coverage area, with the exception of the cities. I'm currently with Sprint PCS, contract expires July 25 and I'm anxious to get away from them. It doesn't work on the first floor of my house at home nor did it work in my dorm, but I think that has something to do with the A460. I'm thinking about just adding a line to my parents' Alltel, now that the more local plan ("Greater Freedom") includes the southern third of MN. Otherwise I was thinking about VZW because I'm transferring to U of M in Minneapolis in January. Thanks! |

The local freedom map shows the local coverage area in MN in the same footprint as MWW. PRL 704 (the latest roaming list) has an entery for MWW in Wisconsin. The SID is 1812. There is another entry for MWW in MN. That SID is 1372. Note that 1372 is roaming on National Freedom plans, but not on Greater of Total Freedom plans. There are no MWW SIDs blocked in the PRL, so your phone should be able to use whatever B side signal from MWW it can find. royc |

Winona is covered natively by MWW and Sprint. I have had many problems with Verizon in Winona earlier this year. But this seems to be corrected with and new PRL. I have a son who goes to WSU and has not had problems with Sprint in Winona. This fall both he and his sister will be using Sprint while at WSU. They also have a cousin who lives in Winona, using Sprint without problems......Greg |

Yeah I saw your post about that. My issue with Sprint was that it didn't get any signal in my dorm. It worked great there otherwise.

I had problems with first floor Lourdes and East Lake. It works great on 4th floor Prentiss which is across from Morety. The main campus area is pretty good.

I just thought its interesting that the new alltel maps include to what appears to be the midwest wireless footprint. Just looking for information on what alltel did or is doing to include that in their area...
