Default Follow up on Sprint coverage in Iowa

To continue an old thread from the old forum, I wanted to follow up on the accuracy of Sprint maps in Iowa. The maps are accurate so far as there is no Vision available in the "Additional PCS Service" areas. iPCS is the affiliate that needs to upgrade.

The thing that bugs me the most about Sprint's coverage in Iowa is the gaps on both I-29 and I-680. The coverage gaps are areas where coverage between both iPCS and Swiftel and iPCS and Sprint Corporate, respectively, are on the border between tower operators. There is really no population in either gap, so there is no incentive for either provider to fill out the gap. I would like to know who is not finishing the job. (I would guess iPCS.) And, yes, I have received calls while in these coverage gaps, so I have been charged because of the gaps.

Does anyone have a similar situation elsewhere?

That's pretty sad that they still don't have 3G data up and running yet. The affiliates out here in the West (Ubiquitel and Alamosa) converted a long time ago.

Can SprinPCS fire iPCS and bring in Qwest as the affiliate?? "I can't believe I just said that "

MyLG vx10 could, my Audiovox CDM 89000 also can. Look to LG, and audiovox. I am not so sure about Samsung but probably yes there too.

The Timeport 270c is a great phone. I think I may have finally found one I like better (my new A680) though. Still, I'd take the 270c over almost any other phone today, despite the fact it is "ancient" by most standards.

Actually, you're in luck... there's a way to force the v270c to CDMA PCS... it's in the programming menu (however you get there, I can't remember.. ##DEBUG? or #program#?). I think the option is called Force PCS? something of that nature... I'll have to check into it when I get home, as I still have my wonderful 270c sitting there unused.

I have a 270 too.. I would be anxious to force the PCS digital on fringe areas ... where i often end up with a weak verizon analog signal...

I don't have Verizon, but my friend's Verizon phone was not working well in northwest Iowa in December. My Sprint phone doesn't work well in analog areas in northwest Iowa when I am up there. I was up there last a couple weeks ago.

All of Verizon base stations since last summer are 1XRTT ready. Problem is that many cells in those areas were still spaced too far apart so you would lose signal or be in analog in some areas.
