I'm considering switching from Verizon to Sprint. There are a few things about my VX440 that I don't like and Verizon doesn't have a camera phone available...which I'd prefer. Can anyone tell me the quality of service from Sprint in the Ohio area...specifically Dayton. If Sprint stinks, I'd consider Cingular...any feedback for them too? Thanks! Won |

I have several friends who use Sprint here in Columbus. Most of them are satisfied but feel that the service could be better. Especial the customer service aspect. When I receive calls from Sprit subscribers I notice that the call quality is not so good. In my opinion, I feel that the Sprit service here in Columbus has two many subscribers for the network.

won, Switching from Verizon to Sprint is chancy. Some people love it, some 'put up' with it because they DO have cool phones, and some hate it, especially when dealing w/their CS. Tread very carefully into Sprint. Where they are good, they are very good, but it is a different world than Verizon in Ohio. Understand that if you try Sprint, your activation fee is non-refundable, and don't cancel your Verizon account until you're sure you like Sprint's coverage. Dayton is as good as any of their markets. Problems only come up when you get deep into a building, or out of town and off the interstate corridors. Make sure you try it in all the places you go, within the first 2 weeks. Cingular is about par w/Sprint but may have areas that may be better or worse than Sprint, but rarely better than Verizon. -Bill |

My wife has Sprint and I have Verizon and if I were you - I would stay with Verizon. In my opinion Verizon is much better in Ohio, have better call quality and better coverage. Plus, Sprint's customers service is not very good.

In downtown Columbus, my personal experience is that with the right handset (SANYO) Sprint is superior to Verizon. However, if you go east on 70 much past the Franklin/Licking line, good luck. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of capacity, as it has trouble maintaining calls on a reported full signal. I also noticed a rather large Sprint hole around Zanesville, which you might want to consider if you're ever out around the 70/77 interchange.

I've had Sprint PCS for three years now and live in Fairfield - about midway between Cinci and Dayton....HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I take road trips quite often...to Cleveland, Chicago, Louisville, Rapid City SD, Nova Scotia, New England...HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I climbed Mount Adams in NH and out in the middle of nowhere at 6,000' I was able to get an analog roaming signal and call Cleveland! I have nothing but good things to say about Sprint's coverage and service. I am however switching to T-Mobile but only because I just bought a GSM phone and Sprint does not have GSM network. Time to move on.... MAKE THE SWITCH - I THINK YOU'LL BE FINE.... |

Just try out the Sprint phone for the 14 day trial and try to take it to all the places you frequently use your phone...if you don't have any problems go ahead and switch.
