Default Sprint Roaming WI

Does anyone have a list of companies that Sprint has Roaming agreements with in Wisconsin? I thought I saw a state by state roaming list somewhere here before but I can't seem to find it again! I'm going to pick up Sprint service in a few weeks as a second phone and I'm wondering WHO I will be roaming with when I'm out in the boonies (USCC?)!!

Billy,
While there are some lists, like Sprint PRL 10014, it's hard to keep up with Sprint's roaming partners. They most likely have an agreement with all carriers in the state, and occasionally rotate the most preferred.

Here's an idea. Go to the Sprint or Radio Shack store and ask to see a working phone, any phone...ask the agent for theirs if necessary. Change the mode to Roaming or Analog only, then press 611 and see who answers. Or press an invalid number, like 123 SEND, and listen to the intercept. That will be your most likely roaming partner, but it could change with the next PRL update.

Based purely on a few tests like what BillRadio suggests, the southern part of Wisconsin (roughly Janesville to Milwaukee) had fallback coverage by Verizon in February 2003. I believe that Sprint's fallback partner for the northern part of Wisconsin is AllTel, but I haven't tested that. The north/south carrier cutoff seems to run somewhere around Green Bay.

Due to the changes being brought about by Sprint's new "America" plans, this could certainly change at any time. I'd expect that a lot of people will be interested in this plan, especially if Sprint can stay ahead of the additional load and avoid service interruptions.

I did that test in the Central Wisconsin area and found that CellularOne is the fall back for Sprint. Why would Sprint have CellularOne for a fall back even though that CellularOne has 800AMPS why not go with Cellcom they run 800 & 1900 CDMA. and while CellularOne only runs TDMA,AMPS. ANd soon will have GSM. Thats kindda strange. that is a good test to find out that you get that recording on the cellular carrier you roam on. I personlly would like nothing better to be running on Cellcom network instead. This would make sense.

Tbrusky,
The answer is simple. Cellular One could be charging Sprint .10/minute for roaming calls, and Cellcom could be charging them .30/min. Sprint does not care if you end up roaming on digital or analog, they only care that they are charged the lowest price for that roaming. With the new plans they are now absorbing those roaming, and LD, charges.

PRL 10019 changes the roaming partner for parts of Wisconsin I think. It really depends on which PRL you have. PRL 10017, 10018 and 10019 had some changes in there.

Yes they have, but when I'm roaming with Sprint around Pardeeville, Sprint uses USCC Analog! I hope that Sprint works out a deal to digital roam with USCC!

SO where and when does Sprint use Digital raoming on USCellular? Any plans of siging a deal soon. I know for for that USCELLUALR owners alot of towers all the way up to Door CO. in WIsconsin and half the other part in Wisconsin from Stevens Point down. Would be nice to use Digital roaming on USCELLUAR soon. I rather not even CellularOne they are rally bad. I had CellularOne I hated it. Echoes big time.

I said I "hope" Sprint gets some kind of deal to digital roam with USCC. The only time I digitally roamed with Sprint, was down near Madison and that was with Verizon. All other times I have been roaming have been analog with USCC. I'll be in Portage all weekend and I'll see what Sprint's story is up there!!
