Default Cingular: Dropping the ball--I mean call?

I wonder whether any of you have had similar problems with Cingular's GSM coverage? On the way to Cleveland yesterday while on 271 North, thirty minutes from Cleveland's eastern suburbs, I had three or four calls dropped after I dialed. No connection. This occured over a 7-10 minute period. Finally I was able to connect to the party. On the way home we were on 71 South to Columbus not far from Cleveland when I had a call dropped after the connection was made. Reception was poor for several minutes after I made another connection. This is in a populated area and is a problem that I never experienced with Verizon. Secondly, I was informed by Cingular that their GSM coverage area would be the same as their other service plans. And supposedly the FCC madated that the change be complete by June, 2004. It is not but they continue to build towers. I would have thought that the change over to GSM software on their other towers would have been finished by now. Is anyone able to clarify this for me? Rich

I can't tell you why those problems are happening, but I am sure the FCC did not mandate any change by June 2004.
