I live in Iowa, but spend a good amount of time at Lake of the Ozarks. Who's the best wireless provider at the lake? I've had Verizon in '00 (didn't work), AT&T in '02 (VERY spotty!), and have had Sprint since '04 (works well but the phone stinks). Is there a better company out there than Sprint?? Thanks for the info! |

My boss & her husband own property down there & are there quite a bit. They just switched from USCC to Nextel. I think she went down last weekend - I'll check with her & see how her reception was. |

Based on the travelling I do through Missouri, I would say that Cingular would probably be the best bet. Since the merger their signal has greatly improved throughout central Missouri. I drive through that area every couple of weeks and never have a problem. However, since I haven't actually been on the Lake with service, I can't guarantee that. With all the hills/valleys etc., no carrier may be able to offer the best service. But I do know that Cingular is strong in that particular region now. |

If talking native network, Cingular might cover best but if you have free roaming charges, the 'big three' cover the Ozarks (lake area) 100% with roaming, just a small % is analog only (peaks of some SE ranges). I'm down there often with Sprint and have had no issues with roaming. If you already have Sprint, you can get roaming for $5/month extra if your account doesn't already include free roaming. And if you don't like your phone, check out the Blade - very cool phone. |

Does Alltel cover that area well? I have found their service to be great, and they have many roaming agreements, so I've never experienced a time with no service. The PRL 1205 has really helped. Good Luck!

Alltel, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, Cingular and USCC cover Lake of the Ozarks, AFAIK. I have personally used Alltel and T-Mobile there and had no problems. My relatives have used Sprint, Cingular and USCC and had no problems. I think that area, since it is very heavily travelled, has pretty good coverage from all representated carriers. It's pretty much take your pick.
