Default Problem with Verizon Wireless

Here in the Detroit area (western suburbs) I have been experiencing a problem with my Verizon Wireless service. There was quite a storm here in the area yesterday. Normally I get a full signal, but after the storm I only get one bar, if that, for a signal. I called Verizon Wireless and they told me that there were some tower outages but they were fixed. I still think that the tower that serves my area is having trouble. There is a Verizon tower 1/2 mile from my home and I should be getting a full signal like I usually do. What is the opinion of members of the Wireless Advisor. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Keep calling and request to speak to someone in techincal support as opposed to regular customer service. Keep bugging them (without getting mean and nasty) until the address your concerns.

What phone do you have?

I can give you a script that will most likely get you escallated toa level 2 tech. based on that. ( one clue, field test mode is a beautifull tool)

Can field test mode tell you how or what tower is picking up most of your calls?
I get great service everywhere else but around my home I only get 2-3 bars... On the FCC site it says that there is a verizon tower about 45 blocks from my house.. but we never have gotten strong signal...

If there is anyway to find out if another tower nearby is stronger?

I wish I could tell the difference between towers.

A bit off topic, but can you give the addy, for the FCC site that gives the location of Verizon towers?

Is that 45 blocks or 4 to 5 blocks? If the tower is 45 blocks away you'll never get signal from that tower at your house. It's just too far away.

This is the site that shows some tower locations...
It only shows some not all....so I really don't know how close a actual tower is to me.

DId you do the *228 yet. I know its not the cure for everything, but it seems when we did have the big storm in the Pontiac area, people with LG's were really the only ones seriously affected, as soon as the towers went back online, they did the *228 and it seemed to be the cure.
