VZW update in St. Clound MN Just visited the St Cloud area this weekend and found that the network conversion seems to be completely done now. They changed from SID 534 to SID 26 to match the metro area's network. Not sure if they changed the AMPS SID also, as I have a digital only phone. Also all features seem to be working now, including WAP 2.0, which were not working a few months ago. There is no longer a nasty hole on the coverage south of Clearwater where the border of the two networks was. No EVDO of course, but hey, we can't have evreything.

Re: VZW update in St. Clound MN I believe that conversion was completed the last weekend of September.
Something I did notice this past weekend is that they are using the Qwest spectrum in Kandiyohi county! Was getting a PCS signal around New London, didn't check Spicer, because I was assuming it was still Extended over there, didn't look at the phone. Didn't go to Willmar.
I'd guess VZW
spends a lot on roaming in that area. It's a big tourist area.

Re: VZW update in St. Clound MN So they have some new native VZW
coverage running on 1900MHz out west, or is this still an area that the CMS deal covers, just redundant coverage? Cars became my job, so phones became my hobby.

Re: VZW update in St. Clound MN That is cool. I haven't checked the coverage locator in a while. That is the biggest change VZW
has made here in years. Cars became my job, so phones became my hobby.

Re: VZW update in St. Clound MN The only way VZW will be in Nothern MN is for them to buyout Rural Cellular and don't see Verizon
on the bandwagon to do this. Maybe Alltel will.
