I recently saw some Net10 prepaid phones at the store....advertising 10 cents anytime anywhere including roaming. Anyone have more info than is offered on the website? How does Net10 work? I'm interested to find out what carrier(s) it operates on...... Also...anyone use Net10? How is it? |

Well I use Tracfone (I think they own Net10), and I primarily use Cingular Orange. Up on my campus, I use Cingular Blue. There service is great and your phone displays how many minutes you have left and then deducts them according to how long you are on your call. The display also shows when your airtime card expires.

Oh cool....how do you know blue/orange, etc? Does the display say? Net10 coverage map looks kind of like Cingular's map too |

I wish my local Wal-Mart had Net10 Wireless. Because I would have gotten that before Tracfone, but they didn't. Are you thinking of getting the phone for you or for someone else?

Shizam do you have any 7-11s in your area? Speakout phones come completely unlocked. The Nokia 1100 is $40. But just remember that if you have a new Cingular 64K SIM older and non Cingular phones may not work with them.

Budney, do you know if they sell any tri-band phones? Or do they just sell dual band (850/1900) Mhz phones.

I'm a newbie here, but I just ordered a Net10 phone and was hoping that this statement is just out-dated. According to everything I read before I ordered was that a $30 card will last for 60 days, which would be only $30 every two months or $15/mo. depending on how you wanna look at it. I didn't read that you had to order something every month, but I coulda missed something...wouldn't be the first time.

You are correct. Just $30 for 60 days. You don't have to do anything else, to keep the service active.

A local website in my area (Syraction.com) has a review posted for net10 that looks fairly unbiased. It's at http://syraction.com/net10.htm . It says something about net10 using the same network as Tracfone.

I just tried to Net10. My phone wouldn't work and they refused to fix it told me to wait 24 hours..Heck with that I switched to Cingular go phone for a back up phone!! I like the coverage and clarity of the calls so far!!

I want to buy an unlocked RAZR online. I am wondering if I would be able to take out the SIM card from my current net-10 phone and put it in the RAZR, and get the RAZR to work with the net10 service. Since Net10 uses GSM, this should work, right? |

What if I went to the store and bought a net10 phone, and as soon as I opened the packaging, instead of putting the SIM card into that phone, I put it into my own unlocked phone. Wouldn't that work? |

| As many people will tell you Net10 and TracFone use phones that have "proprietary" firmware and this means that even if they are GSM phones you cannot use any phone with their service. Net10 even has different phones than TracFone even though they are marketed by the same company. If you wish to use a GSM phone you need to use it on a compatible network such as AT&T or T-Mobile.
