Default Sprint roaming on RCC in northern MN??

Does anyone know if Sprint users can roam on RCC? I was in the Crosslake, MN area last weekend just outside of Sprint's coverage area. My Treo600 was picking up a digital roaming signal which turned out to be RCC's. However, if I tried to make a call I would get this weird canned recording:

"Your mobile subscription number and mobile equipment identification number are not a valid combination. Please contact customer service."

My buddy who has Verizon service, was using his phone all day on Rcc's network with no problems. I would *assume* that Sprint has roaming agreements with RCC, but maybe not?? I've tried contacting Sprint, but you can imagine the lack of help that I got. The best advice I got from a CS rep was, "If there's an "R" displayed on your phone, that means your roaming." Gee, thanks for the help.

Default Re: Sprint roaming on RCC in northern MN??

Hey eagle,

Sprint only has analog roaming as of now in Northern MN. I believe it is on RCC not CellOne, but am not 100% sure. But I am sure it is an analog only agreement. The CDMA coverage up there is relatively new, only turned on very recently. Verizon does roam on RCC both digital and analog. So for now, it looks like you are pretty much out of luck unless you have a phone that supports AMPS. Sprint has agressively expanded digital roaming agreements in the last year or so though, and I would expect them to continue doing so and would expect that the new RCC CDMA network would be added eventually.
