Default Panel Covers????

So if you can see on this verizon site there are some panel covers. This site is the one that my home goes off of and it is on a very high mountain. Can anyone tell me what the little covers do??

It looks like they are there to direct the signal forward?

Partly. They are used to help reject signals coming into the antennas from the sides. Allowing the antenna to only see right in front of itself and keeps the antenna's side lobes from bringing in traffic.

Typically, you'll see these on sites focusing on a certain area or stretch of highway where the carrier has a set of sites focused on the highway and a different set covering the surrounding areas.

Great explaination thanks this does make sense because if this tower were to just float a signal out. It would have way to many capacity issues.

Are you referring to the reflectors behind the panels? If so , I agree, directional and isolation.
