Smile An Article on Camo Sites Will Appear...

Yes, this is the announcement I've teased about for the last several weeks.

I'm please to report that the September, 2007 edition of ...

THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE

...will have a feature on camo sites. They are using photographs by and comments from yours truly in the accompanying short text. They're letting the photos do most of the talking.

To make it even better, the NGS Website will run a piece the same month featuring even more camo site photos.

In honor of the NGS article, I've revamped my own photo site, which will be linked to from the NGS website, and I've added a top level link back to WirelessAdvisor.com.

Neat stuff!

Yeah, JK, this is really great. The site update looks amazing (but the favicon won't display at work... I'll have to check it when I get home.) Looking forwarding to reading the article (I'll be buying it for sure.)

Thanks for the shout-out, RJB.

I use my gallery primarily to educate local government planners, Planning Commissioners, and electeds about different site configurations. That's why I tend to favor unusual and camo sties and unusual designs, and what drove the National Geographic to asking for my help putting together the spread.

Hi Moto:

I use an animated favicon. This is what it looks like:

It displays correctly in most browsers, except those which are coded in or through Redmond, Washington.

Best,

Thanks!

I just found out from the feature editor at the NGM that they are using this article as an "evergreen" piece. That means that some zip codes get the article in the September issue, and others will get it later.

Evergreen means that the article is tied to a point in time (hence, 'evergreen' like a tree). Hopefully you'll see it this month. In my zip code the article didn't run in September's issues.

...which brings up an interesting point: Major magazines can and do vary the content on a zip code basis! Think about the level of targeting that gives them, but also places an editorial burden on them, too.

Best,

Jonathan

They used to do that with TV Guide but I never heard of National Geographic doing that.
