1000 foot FM and TV broadcast tower that we have a cell site on. It gets hit and blows the telco everytime. Last time took out 3 miles worth of wire and a couple telco repeaters.

If it keeps getting hit, couldn't they just make it shorter? Or would the trees interfear with it otheriwse?

Couldn't you put a couple of lightning rods up top and have them run into a large capacity storage battery? Think about how long you could power the panels if you could only harness the 1.21 jigawatts of electricity a lightning bolt generates.
