Has anyone ever seen a site where the pannels are labelled with the carrier on the back? http://gallery.wirelessadvisor.com/s...s&searchid=375

Well, thanks to who ever decided to do that, it made my life a tad bit easier. Instead of my wondering for years if its either a Cingular, Verizon, or a Sprint hybrid site, i am 100% sure what it is, without trespassing!

That is the first such site I have seen myself as well. I also wish more carriers would do this. Carriers in my area are pretty good at putting their names on the equipment shelter, but that is not always easily accessible. |

I agree, it would be real nice to see all carriers do this. As you said it's not always easy to get near them to see who they belong to. Plus you have to worry about cops thinking your a terrorist or something like that. | |

Too bad they don't label the backs of panels (or use non-encrypted RFIDs.)around here. That would be awesome... but I have other means of determining who has panels where.

You'd think they'd put their names on the front of the panels to get more advertising.

This is fairly common w/ TV & Radio broadcasters who are colo'd on the same tower. It just makes sense. I know I wouldn't want a my tower workers mistakingly disconnecting a 50KW transmission line from another broadcasters antenna. |

Images: 5 | Haha, been there done that. The best was doing a relocation for Cell One (now Cingular) circa 1993-94. We were to relo the sectors from 150' to 220' on a big 850' Self Support broadcast tower (Channel 20 in DC). Well, long story short is someone mis-traced the cables out from the equipment and we ended up taking Nynex (VZW) off the air for about 2 days until we re-ran cables to their sectors. It was the cell techs fault, thank god.

This is an old post but I have seen that stuff myself. The carriers were co-located in the same building? Doesnt take a rocket scientist to trace coax. 1 line maybe in a crowded ladder rack.

Images: 5 | Well, this building at the time had 2 mobile carriers, numerous paging TX, FM, TV, and other community repeaters. The amount of coax coming in/out of this building is mind boggling and bundled so tracing a line in a bundle of 30 isn't such an easy task.

Definately not a guide tower, it would fail a weight load test.

Images: 5 | Quite often, the larger more loaded towers are guyed. think of most tall broadcast towers for example. Even a Rohn Model 90 would can be designed for significant loads tha meet or exceed that of a SSV. Not all guy towers are little 45g lightweight towers like the ones you would find with a log periodic or spiral monocone attached.

I have tons of Rohn towers and every time I need to add another feedline we have to get them load tested. This is with only 1 cell carrier running approx 6 1 5/8 lines with sectorized antennas.

I should say alot of times the tower owner will require it.
