Gang: On 11/1/05 I presented a tower siting lecture to the California Chapter of the American Planning Association. My co-presenter was Robert Smith from Crown Castle. We called our presentation, "Wireless Siting 2005: A Sea Change." I recorded the lecture and have converted it to streaming audio. I've also converted the two sets of lecture slides to PDF format. Both are now linked through my main website, www.KramerFirm.com. The lecture runs about 1.25 hours. I hope you find the industry v. government views to be interesting. I certainly did! Best, Jonathan PS: I'd appreciate your comments on the lectures posted here, both positive |

Just listened to the lecture...it was great! It was cool to hear the problems of the tower industry, asbolutly a new prespective for me. It was a great lecture!

The only problem (just for us forum people) is that it was sometimes a little bit difficult to keep up with the slides and figure out which slide be currently being discused, but i got over it, lol. I also wanted to bring up that picture of the GIANT transmission line. What is that thing...half a mile wide?!?

that thing is until you look at the cars below it, eh? That moster tower is in Federal Way, Washington, as is the slide that follows it (the two towers side-by-side). Maybe I'll post the monster to the Washington gallery. -Jonathan

Yeah, i'm sure everyone here will get a kick out of that thing. And i thought New Jersey had some old school large transmission lines, that thing makes them look like your everyday neighborhood utility pole!

I also took a look around your page of the pictures of cable lines. I have to say, that picture of the heavy duty chain holding on to the cable was pretty funny. I have never seen that before!

Please try again...but be prepared to wait. The PDF is better part of 70 MB (the original PowerPointLess was about 125 MB) due to the photographs. I noticed that my server was attacked this morning by an out-of-country site. I put the IP range into my firewall to kill it. Best, Jonathan

I've received a lot of nice comments on/off the board about the lecture. I'm glad that people are enjoying it, even if the PDF is a monster download. -Best- Jonathan |
