Default turning off headset?

my phone has no sounds what so ever other then the ringer. the keypad, in call, and the battery meter make no noise. on my main screen there is an icon that looks like a headset. does anyone know how to get rid of it? or how to fix this problem?

p.s i cant restore the factory seetings as i need the code and my friend that i got the phone from does not remember what it was.

Do you have a headset for the phone? If so, I would try plugging it in, make a call to the phone from another one, answer the call, disconnect the call, then disconnect the headset. Maybe that will reset everything, as it sounds like the phone believes a headset is connected and is routing the audio there.

Did your friend change the security code? If they don't believe they ever did - try "12345" - that is typically the default security code for Nokias.
