Default Bluetooth question

I am in the market for a bluetooth headset. I currently carry two cell phones, one for work and one personal. Can one headset control two cellphones?

No, not at the same time. You can pair both of them to your headset so that they will be easier to set up when you want to change but the headset will only "remember" the last one it was paired with, so it will only automatically connect to the last one it was used with.

Yeah, you cannot have a headset connected to more than one device at a time.

I am surprised by the answers you got.

Although any BT headset may not connect to 2 phones, my Plantronics 640 does. I was in China recently with both a RAZR with my CMCC SIM card and my VZW Q. Both are paired to the Plantronics. Whichever phone rang, the Plantronics would ring and work with that phone.

I have never heard of a headset maintaining 2 connections at the same time. If you initiate a call with the headset, which phone does it use?

Be sure you read the fine print. My Motorola headsets say they can be paired with up to 8 devices, but only one active connection at a time.

I agree with you on the moto thing. The plantronics I have is paied to 2 devices and when one rings it picks up the device that is ringing. As to the BlueAnt I looked it over and it says that all 3 can be at the same time and one can switch between the 3 devices by clicking the vloume keys (at least that is how I understood the process).
