Hello all, at the suggestion of rwsrichard, I've created this Bluetooth FAQ forum. Hopefully this thread will evolve into a one-stop shop for BT information here on WA. Feel free to ask any BT related questions in this thread. When I get some time I will write & post a BT FAQ here. Thanks, Jay |

Images: 157 | Ok, I have several BT headsets, but they all are Motorolas, and 2 different models. The HS820, and the H700. I have also used the H500 on a trial basis for about 3 days. All exhibited excellent range with my phones. My bluetooth phones are Motorola models V3, V551, A845, and a HP iPAQ 6515. In my experience my headsets work reliably up to about 100 feet away, after that the range may be questionable due to static. If the transmission is going through walls or floors then the range goes down to about 20 or 30 feet. The HS820 uses the same model charger as most V series phones like the V300 through the V600 series models, and the Moto A845. The H500 & H700 use the same mini USB charger as the V3, L2, ROKR, etc. I would recommend choosing a headset that shares the same type of charger as your cell phone if possible. That way you will have a car charger that will also charge your headset, and you'll have a spare AC charger that can be kept at work, or GF/BF's house, ETC. The voice quality on all the units is very good, but if I had to choose one over the others I would choose the H700. It is a little better than the others, I think due to the microphone design being different. The H700 also allows you to join a conference call by squeezing both volume buttons, something the HS820 does not offer. The HS820 is also pretty cheap if you watch Ebay. THe last one I bought I paid under $20, and that included shipping. It is arguably the best value out there for a quality BT headset. I'll post more later, Jay |

This is very good advice, Jay. It is possible to find very good deals on Bluetooth headsets on eBay and I think that having a headset which uses the same charger as your phone is the best way to go. I have used two models of BT headset, like Jay, they are both Motorola; the HS820 and HS850. I have borrowed other people's headsets from Nokia and Kyocera and found their headsets to be ugly, awkward and thought that they didn't seem to have the same build quality or range as Motorola headsets. The only Jabra I ever used was very nice, however. I have also heard very good things about Plantronics headsets but I've never actually tried one. For additional information on Bluetooth in general, try this link and this other link. Also, Wireless Advisor's Glossory defines Bluetooth as, "A short range wireless protocol meant to allow mobile devices to share information and applications without the worry of cables or interface incompatibilities. The name refers to a Viking King who unified Denmark. Operates at 2.4 GHz." While the most popular use for the Bluetooth protocol is by far headsets, it is used in a wide range of products.

How do you put a pic in your posts? Also, is there any other way of getting to 'attachments' besides clicking on User CP, then attachments, then right-click and choose 'copy shortcut', then back all the way out and then put the shortcut in a post? |

Hokay, I have a question: Please forgive me if this has been posted/answered before. I have a Motorola H700 headset. If I were to purchase a bluetooth dongle for my PC, would I be able to use this headset for Teamspeak? |

Thanks for the info! I was just coming to delete/edit my post, as I found this out not seconds before. But I'm glad to hear someone's having success with my specific unit, too. Thanks again, WirelessAdvisor and Jay! |

Images: 4 | It's got kind of bad audio output for the full range, you could also get a bluetooth set of earphones with microphone, motorola sells a really nice set, using the High Quality Audio profile that would suit your needs more.

Alright. I hate to be a pain here. I picked up a dongle (kensington), and it connected with my H700 perfectly fine. But it tells me that my H700 does not support service "Headset". ???? |

Says that there are no services available. I'm on Ventrilo right now. I can hear "Microsoft Sam" stating what is being typed, but no one can hear me. Nor can I hear the music being piped over or anyone else talking.

Well, I think I have the poast fairy looking out for me! The headset magically started working not two minutes after the post. Thanks again, all. Maybe now I'll start working more with this stuff. Bluetooth is quite new to me. |

I have the H3, and I absolutly love it. I ran it over with my car a few days ago and it still works. Ill get a pic of it for proof when I get my camera back. What is so good about the H700, im still a bit phazed about the diffrences in quality between the H500, the H3 and the H700... And the Nokia HS-4W is one of the worst headsets out there... I really cant stress that enough. Its big, bulky and never works well with any phone, including nokia's own phones! |
