JFB, can you explain in greater detail, what an affiliate link is. I'm a bit confused.

As an example, you see a lot of web sites with Amazon sections where they promote products that people can then buy through Amazon. The web site then gets a small percentage on sales made that way.
WA has a small book section that works that way. See here.

That is all fine, but people can also place a link to their Amazon store in the URLs they use on other sites. Doing that is commercial spamming...forums and blogs are a popular target for that activity.

That is a simple example. There are dozens of ways to do it, but the bottom line is that placing affiliate links on others' web sites is a scummy thing to do.

We like to make it very clear so that anybody that does it knows they will be banned; no questions asked, no second chance.

Many spammers do it anyway even knowing that their post won't last very long. It isn't a huge problem here at WA, but the great moderators we have here still delete and ban dozens each week.

If you see any such spam posts, click the "report to moderator" button and see how fast it disappears...

Rancid has done a real good job with reporting spammers, thanks Rancid.

EDIT: Shores, i've deleted some of the ones you have reported also, thanks for your help..

Spamming isn't as big a problem here on WA as on some other forums, let's hope it stays that way.
