Default Using your Verizon phone as a modem with PDA/Laptop

Hi Everyone...here is a response I received from Verizon with some very helpful information for connecting your PDA/Laptop to your Verizon phone. The website it refers to has cables to connect almost every type of phone you can think of to many different PDA's.

We currently offer two services for mobile Internet connections, Mobile Office and NationalAccess. The basic Mobile Office service will allow a connection speed of 14.4 Kbps to the default Verizon
Wireless QNC (Quick Net Connect) connection or your existing Internet Service Provider. You will need a compatible data connectivity cable for your particular phone and the 9-pin serial data
synchronization cable that came with the PDA. A null modem adapter is required to join the two cables. You may be able to obtain the necessary equipment by visiting

http://www.thesupplynet.com

The Supply Net offers a large selection of direct wireless phone-to-PDA cables. Be sure you purchase a cable that is compatible with both your wireless phone and PDA. There is no additional access
fee for the basic Mobile Office service as usage is deducted directly from your regular voice plan allowance. For additional information regarding the Mobile Office connection, please visit

The NationalAccess service offers connection speeds between 40 and 60 Kbps with burst rates of up to 144 Kbps. NationalAccess is a premium service, requiring the addition of an NationalAccess pricing plan. NationalAccess service is not available in all areas. Please visit

for product pricing and service availability.

Default Using your Verizon phone as a modem with PDA/Laptop

I have been using my Palm m-515 PDA, Audiovox CDM-9155 and a cable from http://www.gomadic.com to access Verizon's QNC (14.4) service. It works great for checking e-mail and casual web surfing. I'm using the Blazer web browser from Handspring on the PDA.

Wonder if adding National Access would speed up surfing on a PDA like the Palm m-515?

If you do a little searching on the threads...it turns out that as long as your bill says National Access MOU, or National Access you can use the 'Express Network' with only having the minutes deducted from your plan. National Access and Express Network are the same thing and the terms are used interchangeably. I've used it with my laptop and it's pretty cool.

This is from my bill on the Verizon Website

Active Additional Services:
3-Party-Conference - Call Forward Busy - Call Forwarding - Call Forward No Answer - Call Waiting - Call
Delivery - CDMA Digital W/Txt Msg - CallerID - Message Waiting Ind - New Every Two - Streamline Billing
Roamer Toll - Home Toll - Voice Mail Plus - National Access
