Question Buying 2nd hand Blackberry for Metro PCS

I was told by the people at Metro PCS that I could use a Verizon or Sprint unlocked Blackberry, but when I look on Ebay, some people have their Blackberries listed as Verizon but with GSM technology. I know I need CDMA (or do I). I just don't feel like paying $400 for a Metro BB when I can get one for under $100 on Ebay, but not being a techie, I need some guidance. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hello and welcome to WA.

There are some Verizon BBs that have dual technology, GSM and CDMA. The Storm is one of them. Perhaps you are looking at one of these? Can you tell us which BB you are looking at?

In any case, a dual technology BB would work just fine on CDMA.

Hope this helps

Another example of a dual technology blackberry is the verizon 8830 CDMA with GSM. However one difference the 8830 did not come with the GSM card you had to pay extra for that. The Storm does come with a GSM card.

Be careful buying used Verizon phones or blackberrys on E-bay. In my experience (2 out of 2) both of them were reported stolen, and in my case could NOT be activated on the verizon network. Luckily I was able to get my money refunded on both. I doubt I will ever try to buy a used Verizon blackberry again on E-bay.
