My blackberry pearl quit letting me text and make calls. I can get on the internet, ect. Tried deleting stuff, updating the roaming towers and took out the battery! Most of this info came from alltel so they weren't much help.

Sounds like a carrier issue. I would call them they might have to re-provision your phone on the network. Happens once in a while, but they should be able to get it going. Don't be on the BB when you call them, use another phone. Just have it nearby in case they need to walk you through some screens and settings.
