When I inserted the sim in my Curve, I noticed all the contacts have the name and a slash with a number. For example Dad/1 or DPW/Sanitation/3. I have no idea what that is, and what else I do not understand how come the contacts do not read the same as it was in your previous phone? Thanks

Since your Curve 8310 is the older version, maybe it's a limitation? Is this a new SIM?

And funny every now and again I get a message from mobile email with OZ and some other numbers and letters and it is not in my inbox and I cannot reply to it. I remember way back when, when I got a Nokia and I kept getting some text starting with that OZ letters and numbers. Charlyee can vouch for that, it was so bad that I could not use the phone anymore. So I guess I got a lot to learn with this Curve. Thanks for your help Mike.

I don't believe the SIM card is the problem. As far as the contact issue, it sounds like it's the way the BB 8310 reads phone numbers off the SIM cards. Think of it this way too, the BB OS is unique, especially in the way it manages contacts. There are more fields of information you can use it's almost too much, but for business users it's a necessity. I'm not surprised it isn't reading SIM-stored contacts properly. As far as the Yahoo! mail issue, I can't help you there as I've never had a BB before, but again the 8310 is the old Curve model, so it may not handle all these new web-based e-mail accounts very well. This is just a guess, though...

Images: 168 | Lol Mike, glad you posted that. I believe the 8310 is AT&T, 8320 is T-Mobile, 8330 is Sprint & 8350i is Nextel, true? Ofcourse RIM is not the only one, Palm is just as confusing with their Treo 6xx, 7xx, 8xx, etc. Ok Joe, no yelling at me for derailing your thread, Mike started it. I am slowly getting ready to give of on this BB, everything I do it fights me every step of the way. As much as I hated the touch screen on the iPhone, I never had as much trouble setting up the iPhone as I am with this BB. Unfortunately I bought it off e-bay so I am stuck with it until I cam work out the bugs, if not than it will be a nice paperweight for my desk. |

Even though you bought it from E-Bay, it is brand new & AT&T branded; before you decide to give up, you really should give AT&T a call. If they cannot help they will ask you to call RIM. If it turns out to be a defective unit, it should have the normal 1 year manufacturer's warranty, RIM will either repair it for you or replace it. Good luck buddy. I agree with another post regarding why the contacts from the SIM card look funny. That is the fields from the previous model phone do not line up correctly with the BB device software so that is why things are off.
