Blackberry 7230 has error message when started

I just bought 2 BB 7230s with problems:
1) One of them has a user password lock. I can't get further than the main screen and then can't access anything

2) The other has an odd message "JVM ERROR 523" and under that it says "RESET".

Any clues on how to get past the 1st items and what the second item means or what I need to do.

One last question. Can BB 7280s be unlocked?

Sounds like you bought used blackberrys. You only have 10 tries to get the password right, or the device will be rendered useless. Best suggestion is to contact the person you bought it from and ask them what the password is.

For the second unit, I would suggest downloading and installing the latest handheld software since that will wipe the unit before installing the handheld OS. Or you can search the internet and look for an application called JL Commander. It allows you to do things like wipe your unit. Then you will need to download and install the handheld OS.

BTW if your thinking of getting JL Commander to get past the password on the first unit it will not work. As the JL Commander will prompt you for the units password when you connect to it.

Yes the 7280 can be unlocked do some searching on the internet, you will find places that can do it for a fee.
