First off, your best bet is on blackberryforums.com

Secondly, what carrier are you trying to use it on? If it is a T-Mo phone, then it will work in EU just fine. Are you trying to wipe a previously loaded IT policy from a BES? If so, that is a different issue...but one that can be overcome (hint: use the proper google terms)

I belive T-Mobile Slovakia handles the network in Ukraine. Have your cousin check out www.tmobile.sk or www.tmobile.net and pick a country.

Not sure what you are asking, but here goes

If the blackberry is locked, search the internent you will find places that can unlock the blackberry for you. Similar to unlocking cell phones so that they can be used on any carrier. This will cost you as it is not free. Here is one link I found that can unlock it remotly, and it is not illeagal
http://www.gsmliberty.net/shop/black...FUNtFQodkS8lNg

Is that what you are looking for? Or are you saying it is "locked" and requesting a password to unlock it? If so you are kind of screwed, contact the seller and ask them for the password. Warning here if you put in the wrong password after 10 attempts the blackberry will be useless.

If your used blackberry needs to be re-set to wipe off stuff from the previous user got to options, security, select general settings, then push in the track wheel, you will see "wipe handheld" select that. This will basically re-set the unit to "out of the box" configuration.

Hope this helps.

Jw probably a stupid question, but what do you mean by out of box? Do you mean the phone will be like when you first buy it with nothing but the standard stuff, no messages or contacts and pic's but just like new ... almost, and would it matter if your sim card is in the phone. Or do you mean something completly different

By "out of the box" he means factory default configuation, it will wipe all user data from the blackberry. So that means bye bye emails, contacts, notes, saved music, etc. You'll also hear the wipe more commonly referred to as a "hard" reset vs. a soft reset (think hitting the reset button on your nintendo to understand the soft version.)

So, we just hired a guy who owns a blackberry, but who's company used a different service than us. (We're on Cingular, his was, I think, Verizon.) It's been my understanding that he has to toss his bb in the garbage and buy a new one for our network, in order to get email, etc.
I understand the idea of buying a new cell phone, unlocking it, and putting the SIM card from my old phone into it. But in order to get this one to work on our system, we'd have to get a SIM card for it as well, and Cingular won't do that because they'd rather sell us a shiny new BB for $400. Right?

Or am I missing something obvious?

You will have to get another one from cingular....and unlock at if you want (try verizon uses a cdma network and cingular/att a gsm network.......so you can't put in a sim for cingular in that verizon blackberry.

You can keep his Verizon Blackberry on a Verizon account and still set it up on your corporate email (assuming you didn't mean wireless account).

Default you can unlock version blackberry !!

Even though verizon has locked there blackberrys from using other sim cards...You can still get an unlock code and be able to use other company simcards even Cingular and Tmobile
this goes the same in canada for people who have a blackberry from TELUS or BELL
Theres a few known websites that provide real unlock codes:
blackberry unlock - unlocking gsm blackberry
Blackberry unlocking - blackberry unlock codes

Any BlackBerry can be unlocked now and doesnt matter from wich network is locked. They can be unlocked by IMEI.

I kind of doubt it. The only thing you could try is to call Verizon and try to have the phone activated, but with the MEID not being in thier database, I doubt they can do it. But the phone call would cost you nothing, and you would know for sure.
