I'm thinking for a 9900. But, what is the big deal about this phone? Everyone is raving about it - I'd like to know why. It looks like any other Verizon phone - i.e. ugly. But it must have some seriously solid functionality. Can somebody elaborate on this? Is it really worth moving from a v710 to this? My concerns are: earpiece quality, speakerphone, display, camera. I'm one of the few who like Motorola products and interface. How does the 9900's interface compare? |

The camera on the 9900 is far superior than that of the 710. the picture caller id is also far superior (at least on the outer screen). The real reason I love this phone is the call retention in low signal areas is outstanding. far superior to other phones I have had. However, your 710 I believe is a good low-signal phone as well. The earpiece on the 9900 has a definate sweet spot. Speaker funbction is loud, though a little distorted on high volume. Display is the best VZW has right now. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but a very solid phone with no issues. Oppie Quote:

The display on the 9900 is superior to any other VZW phone I looked at, and it doesn't have that annoying four-point icon Motorola likes to insert in their screens (my previous phone was a T730). The power jack is a standard barrel plug, not the fragile 4-pin plug Moto uses. The camera is very good, and the address book allows one to spell the name letter by letter and zero down into the list, not only find the first letter like the Motos. The 9900 felt more solid to me than did the 710, especially the keyboard and display flip. Also, the price difference of several hundred dollars for the bluetooth crippled 710 was not worth it to me. I, and everyone who uses it, loves my 9900, but you better grab one while you can | |

So if the camera is my major use (which it isn't), I should get the 9900? Hmmm. Not sure if that's enough to switch. I got the v710 for $99 through VZW, so cost isn't a big thing.
