Default Liking the 8910 So Far . . ..

DH and I have the 8910 with Alltel. So far we're impressed, the phone will not drop a call even if you have one bar or none. Nice to have a camera and some features, combined with reception. Maybe I won't have to choose between those anymore!

I'm thinking of purchasing this phone very soon. I have the very bulky T2T 3250 and I'm tired of it. The speaker is horrid among other things. The main question I have would be, does the phone have a "digital only" setting? I live in an area where Alltel phones jump from tower to tower because of weak signal. I have found it is best to set it to digital only and let it "flash" roam. My Kyocera does it and I looked at the manual for this phone (8910) online and it says it does it also. I went to the alltel store today and check one out and was unable to locate the feature....

Nevermind I stopped in at the store today and it looks like kyoceras are the only ones that have such a feature.

The 8910 might have a hidden menu that would allow you to do it...maybe someone else can tell you more?

Yes it did have a hidden menu that the Alltel rep let me toy with. I dug through pretty deep and found nothing along those lines. I also apollogize for diverting the attention of this thread.

Don't worry
I've never tried playing in the hidden menu of my 8900 so it was just a guess on my side to look into the hidden menu.
I'm actually surprised that the Alltel rep would let you go into the hidden menu with his phone..

Yeah the rep really had no idea what I was speaking of when I told him my situation. In my area the coverage has many holes of which verizon has coverage. Thus, if I set my phone to work in digital only mode it is free to grab the closest and strongest signal. Otherwise I am left with a phone that LOVES analog and will not come out of it. Not many phones to my knowledge do not have this option. I am going to make a new thread about this...
