Just recently I noticed that in my house, my phone seems to start latching onto a REALLY weak EV signal (as opposed to the 1x). I have a feeling this is draining my battery very quickly as it keeps jumping back and forth because the phone, with new battery or old, loses its charge in like 8 hours now, which it would normally last for a few days at least. Is there a way to disable the phone from using the EV signal and just using the 1x signal? It's the Verizon model, updated to the latest firmware. Thanks! |

Yes I know this problem very well. It isn't a weak signal, it's just the switching between the two uses a great deal of power. You can disable your 6700 from trying to use the EVDO. First you need the msl, which for all Verizon phones is 000000 (I think). Then from your dial pad enter ##778#, this will take you to a screen that shows the perferred operation mode. The settings are automatic (which what it's on now (EV over 1X), HDR (EV Only), and CDMA (1X Only). Pick CDMA and exit

Don't hit the call/send button. Just enter the numbers once you hit the last # it should bring up a screen to to make the changes.

| Hmmm, I tried that I think and nothing happened. Just in the phone application do it? If I type with the slide-out keyboard, it pops up the phone anyway.

In another forum, I was given these instructions for changing the mode: Start->Settings->Phone->Services Tap on the "Get Settings" Button which will bring up the Clear VM message and notification icon. Click ok (don't tap on the Clear button). When this returns you to the previous screen, tap on the "Get Settings" button again and this time you'll see the 'mode of operation' screen which will let you select 1X only rather than Hybrid, which is what mine was set as.
